MPP Clark Announces $127,600 Grant

Ont Trillium Fnd wide

Kempville, Ontario – On Friday morning, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville hosted local MPP for Leeds Grenville, Steve Clark, to announce some wonderful news for the community. On March 3rd, the group was awarded a $127,600 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to increase services to children and youth in the Kemptville, North Grenville, Edwardsburg and Merrickville areas. Joining MPP Clark to mark to occasion was OTF’s representative, Betsy Heately.

"I'm delighted to announce the Ontario Trillium Foundation has provided this grant to assist Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville in expanding its services into this rapidly growing part of my riding," said Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark. "The great work of Big Brothers Big Sisters is going to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families in North Grenville, Edwardsburgh and Merrickville."

Specifically, the funding from OTF will be used over the next two years to increase access to mentoring support services for children and youth in the North Grenville area by establishing a new satellite office in Kemptville. The new office and staff will create a stable source of community support for their mentoring programs. This grant will also help to establish their major new fundraising event, Kemptville Ribfest on June 17, 18 and 19th, which will provide a steady revenue stream for the new operation for years to come.

“Having an office and staff in Kemptville will enable our agency to do a more effective job of recruiting volunteers to mentor children,” said Jane Fullarton Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville. “We are thankful for the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s commitment to supporting children’s programming in North Grenville and area.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville is committed to the young people of Leeds and Grenville and will be leaders in providing them with the highest quality, volunteer based mentoring programs. The organization offers four programs: our traditional matches, in-school mentoring program, our curriculum based programs Go Girls and Game On and our "Waiting Littles" program the Big Bunch. All programs are intended to help participants build self-esteem, develop social skills, stimulate new interests, learn new things and develop lifelong friendships.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario.
